unusual and interesting photos

Part 1
1. I think his photos are very interesting and different than most that I've seen. They are very cool and nice to look at.
2. I think he just used something on his camera to take pictures while he moving side to side or back and forth. Maybe he used some kind of editing app or something to layer the picture.
3. I think one thing that would be good to take a picture of is when there is the Trail of Lights down at Zilker Park, there's this light shape that makes kind of a cone. At the very top is where the lights meet and there are different stands of lights going off that and it makes a cone so you can stand under it and see. You would not get as easy access because it only happens around christmas time, but it would also be easy because you're going to be walking around to see the lights after you wait in line.

Part 2
I picked this photo as one of my favorites because the photographer captured this photo while the football player was in the air, jumping to get the touchdown. I found this under Sports Action, it won 3rd place. I think it was a combination of both what the photographer did and the subject that was going through the judges head. I think the photographer had to think quick if he wanted to get that picture because he wasn't going to be in the air for long.
I picked this photo as one of my favorite because it just looks really cool how the moon is right in front of the sun. I found this photo under Environment and it got 1st place. The photographers angle of the picture is what caught my eye. I think it was what the photographer did that was going through the judges mind because the photographer had to get it in that moment with the right angle.

Academics and service photo

My favorite photo is one of this tall, blonde, teenager that's a cheerleader looking down, smiling and hugging this little little girl at a football game. The little girl looks like she was about to go in for the hug more and the cheerleader was wrapping her arms around her. I picked this photo because I see a lot of the varsity cheerleaders work with younger kids who want to be cheerleaders just like them and the older cheerleaders are always nice and supportive to them and I felt like this photo showed that. This photo showed happiness and love and kindness that was given. I feel like this picture was a merger photo because the photographer got some of the another cheerleader behind them.

1. I think I could take pictures in an biology classroom, spanish classroom or the yearbook class right next door. I will also find it in theatre or tech theatre or the hospitality classroom.
2. I would like to go into Profe Espinosa's classroom or Spiros biology classroom or any biology classroom. I would also like to go into Fraziers class for hospitality and Gomez's classroom for tech theatre.
3. I will just ask the students to not pay attention to me and to keep working on their project or assignment. I might ask them to pretend they're writing or to hold a pose for me if it looks good but my angle isn't.

Filling the frame

This picture fills the frame because the kids are all around the table looking at the fog and such and the photographer was focusing on that and it takes up the whole or the majority of the picture.

Action and Emotion

This  picture shows action and emotion because the two girls working on this project are showing shock and excitement because whatever they were woking on kind of exploded. You can see that it exploded because you can see some of it up in the air and them getting shocked because they didn't expect that to happen.

The story

This picture shows the best story because it clearly shows that these people are working to give these people food by holding out food and they are wearing gloves so they won't get anything in the food. They also have napkins and pots for the food. I think the story in this picture is that the people on the left are hungry and need food and the people on the right are helping provide food.

photo manipulation and ethics

A. The passage is about photographers using so much photoshop and how much people think has violations. They think it has violations because the photoshopped missiles and other people.

B. I think photo editing is both unethical and acceptable, it really depends on what they edit in the picture. If they edit another missile, like in the passage, I do not think that is acceptable because those are weapons and they are very dangerous and maybe adding one more to the picture will make the other country think they can't handle them. If there's a person in the back off the picture that isn't important and you don't want in the picture, then that's okay. I do not think adding people who weren't there in the picture is okay though. For me, it really depends on what they are editing and how the picture looks in the end.

This is the most unethical picture because they photoshopped Oprahs head onto Ann Margret's body. This is not okay because in a way you're saying that Ophras body isn't good or perfect, it's not the body that people want to see. Also because you're just using someone else's body as a tool when no, that's their body respect it. Don't use someone else's head and put it on their body. It's using someone else's body as a tool and it's saying that Oprahs body isn't the body that can make the cover of the magazine.

This is the least unethical picture because all they did was edit her teeth. They made her teeth look better. I still don't like the idea of them editing her teeth because they're saying she has ugly teeth but it doesn't change that much of her appearance and not that much people would pay attention to her teeth because her smile doesn't show much of her teeth.

great black and white photographs pt. 2

John Gutmann was born in 1905 and was born in Breslau, Germany. He was a Jew and left the Nazi Germany to America in 1933. He created the John Gutmann Fellowship Award in San Francisco. He wasn't only a photographer, he was also a painter. He has his art and pictures published in Massachusetts, Chicago, Ohio, Iowa, Switzerland, New York City, Boston, Amsterdam and San Francisco. He died when he was 93 years old on June 12, 1998. He studied painting in the State of Academy of Arts and Crafts in Breslau, Germany and got a bachelors degree. After he moved to Berlin and got a masters degree in the State Institute for Higher Education. In New York City he worked with a picture agency Pix Inc. After that he worked at San Francisco State College teaching art. Some of his pictures are in a book called "The Restless Decade" by Harry N. Abrams.

post shoot reflection

1. The challenges that I faced when I took the happy, bowie, metal and square picture was I had to find a picture of those 4 while also following the rules of Photography. I also would have a good idea for a picture but I couldn't find a way to take the picture as I envisioned it.

2. The technical aspect that I kept thinking about was focusing the picture. I would press the button so that it would auto focus. After it would focus a couple times I realized that the picture didn't look as good as I thought it would so I would go at different angles.

3. If I could do this assignment again, I would take more time to take my pictures. I rushed through taking the pictures so I would get back to class on time but I had more time than I thought so I would go back and take my time taking the picture and really focus on if it's tilted or if there's something in the corner that ruins the picture. I would also explore the school more.

4. The things I would do the same is work by myself. I would like to work by myself because I didn't rush as much taking my pictures and I had more time to find good things to take pictures of.

5. I accomplished lines and frame.

6. I am kind of interested in working with these prompts again because they were kind of easy and simple. I also would like to because you can find those things easily around the school. I also would not want to because we didn't really get to around the school more and I also would like to go into classes to take pictures of people.

Two things I liked about the pictures he took was that most of them had a simple background so you know what you're focusing on in the photo. I also liked how his pictures weren't out of focus.
One thing he could've improved was when he took the pictures of his friend on happy, he could've had a less distracting background. The background looks good, but it's kind of distracting from the person.

merges- 9/11

This picture is a merger photo because the smoke from the towers is going behind that building and it looks like that building is on fire too or it got hit by a plane as well when it didn't. From this angle it looks like it and your focus is on the pointy tower not the Twin Towers.

framed- 9/11

This picture is framed because the Twin Towers is framed by the buildings on the left side and the bridge on the left side. Also on the left side the the Towers are framed by the other obvious building.

Balance- 9/11

This photo shows balance because you have the Twin Towers on the right side of the photo and that bridge thing on the left and your focus is still on the Twin Towers and the tower getting hit by the other plane.

Lines- 9/11

This picture shows lines because the sunlight from the windows make horizontal lines and the lighting looks cool because the rest of the building is dark and thats the only lighting you see. The light also travels through the entire room.

rule of thirds- 9/11

This picture has rule of thirds because the plane is on the top right corner and you can see that it is going to continue to fly and hit the other tower that has not yet been hit. There is also a plain background and that's the blue sky.

simplicity- 9/11

This picture shows simplicity because the camera only got the building being hit by the plane.  There is nothing else in the picture that distract you from that and there's a plain blue sky background.

The camera: history and information

1. The camera obscure effect is in a completely dark room a tiny hole is in the wall exposing light. The scene is played on the opposite wall.

2. The glass lens helped man get a step closer to making the modern camera.

3. Niepce invented film for the modern camera.

4. The modern camera and the digital camera both have light passing through a box, into the camera, showing the film making a photograph.

5. The digital camera uses an electronic sensor called CCD to capture an imagine.

6. Auto mode will control the flash and exposure. Program mode will automatic-assisit you taking the picture.

7. The portrait mode is used for taking pictures of people because it blurs out the back ground.

8. Sports mode is used for taking pictures of moving objects and people because it will freeze the motion.

9. You should use the half pressed because it gives a faster camera response time, you have more control over the focus ad it encourages better composition.

10. The symbol means that there is no flash and it should be used when you have natural lighting.

11. They symbol means that it's on auto flash and it would be used when you don't know if you should use flash or not because it will use flash if it thinks the picture needs it.

12. If the picture has too much light, the picture will be washed out.

13. If the picture does not have enough lighting the picture will be too dark.

14. A "stop" is used to represent a change in the brightness of light.

15. The new planet will be 1 stop brighter.

16. The new planet will be 2 stops brighter.

17. The long shutter speed has more light.

18. The shorter shutter speed has less light.

19. The aperture lets the light through and acts like a pupil for the camera.

20. You can increase the lighting by having a larger aperture opening.

first day photos

I took this photo as my free choice photo and I like it because I have never taken a mirror selfie using that kind of camera. One thing I don't like about this photo I took is that I didn't focus the camera and also it was taken in the school bathroom. I feel like I could've gone more in the center of the mirror to take it to improve the photo.

I took this photo as my first memory of this class and my first day of high school. A few things that I like about this photo is the word I mainly took a photo of, community. I like that because it reminds me that everyone at Bowie is so kind and we are very supporting. I also like the pajama day photo because it was the first week of school and we were already ready to wear our pajamas to school. One thing I don't like about this photo is the cart right in front of the sign.

I took this nature photo with my partners' hand holding the flower, although I'm not too fond of that in the photo. I like this photo that I took because of the sun lighting in the back of the photo. A couple of things I don't like about this photo though is that the bars that connect to the hand railing is in the photo and also the concrete stairs. I do, however, like the building in the back.
This is a picture of my partner, Yana. I like this picture that I took because of the sun lighting once again in the back. I also like this photo that I took because I got some of the buildings in the back, but I also got the nature that was right there.
