opinions story

People say that marijuana shouldn't be legal in most states simply because its a drug and people get high off of it. Although that’s a good reason to not legalize it, I think it should be legalized in all states for medicine.

All marijuana does is make you calmer and for medicine that’s a very big bonus. Most states use it as a pain prescription. Most states would like to use this for people who have headaches with Cancer or Glaucoma and nerve pain. This is also used for Cancer because a chemical in marijuana stops cancer from spreading.

What most doctors and hospitals use marijuana for is AIDS, Epilepsy, Epileptic Seizures, Anxiety, Depression, Obsession and like I said before, Cancer and Glaucoma. It also decreases the symptoms of Dravet’s Syndrome.

Marijuana also relieves muscle spasms, chronic pain, nausea and it also makes you lose weight. It also helps effects from tobacco and improves lung health. Marijuana also helps with protection to your brain, from concussions to strokes to trauma.

Marijuana has side effects, but so does every other medicine you take.

Although many people use it while smoking, eating or vaporizing, that is how you take the drug. Just because most people do it just for fun, doesn’t necessarily mean you shouldn’t make it legal.

Many “druggies” go to pharmacies to get drugs there, but those drugs aren’t illegal and they are used for medical use. I feel like people would benefit greatly to medical marijuana.

Yes, there may be bad things to letting marijuana legal because most people will just smoke it for fun, but you can’t let some bad things that might happen for making it legal stop you from what you are benefiting for people.

Marijuana is one of the most beneficial and therapeutically active substances. Knowing this, it could affect a lot of people that are sick.

One of the bad things about letting marijuana legal is that people will start to have an addiction to it. That may be very true, but letting it only available to Doctors, other people wouldn’t have an addiction because it will be prescribed to them. Giving them the portion that they need to get better, without letting it get out of hand.

Most states also don’t prescribe their patients marijuana unless they are over 18 years old. That will help from letting teenagers get it and doing it on their own time.

To get marijuana legalized, I feel like we can write down the pros of having it legalized and show the states how beneficial legalizing marijuana for medical use can be.

I think marijuana should be legalized in all states in America because it will help with a lot of disorders, symptoms of being sick, and sicknesses.

Novelty-
"Toddler who choked on octopus recovering"
This is novelty because it's not everyday you see that a child has choked on an octopus. Also because an octopus is just a really random animal

nut graf

A nut graf tells the reader what the writer is up to. It's a paragraph that says what the story is about and why you should read it. It tells the reader why they should care about the story, supporting material to show you why the story is important, why the story is timely and it's a transition from the lead to the rest of the story.
It is called a nut graf because a nut contains the kernel and to the story thats the theme. In the nut graf you don't give away the ending of the story, address some questions readers might have and give them a good reason why they should read the story.

student of the month story

who- Rebecca Melnick
what- Student of the month
when- March 31, 2016
where- Bowie high school
why- hard worker and works hard for good grades
how- students and teachers noticed her hard work and voted her for SOTM

9th grader, Rebecca Melnick, won the Student of the Month award at Bowie High school at the end of March.

Noticed for her hard work and good grades, teachers and students recommended and voted her for Student of the Month.

In order to get student of the month, one of the things that have to qualify are that you care about grades. "We look for effort out of most things when looking for student of the month," Principal Cane says. Melnick had a lot of effort because of her motivations. "Grades are very important because I want people to think that I'm smarter than I look,"Melnick says.

Although she won student of the month, that doesn't mean she's had struggles. "My struggles were always trying to fit time to study," Melnick said. She problem solved that thanks to her french teacher, Madame Tenne. "She would always make sure that I got the criteria and would always be open and understanding if I needed help."

Motivations to get through school comes from her family. "My motivation to get good grades are my brother and sister. My sister because she was in the top 10% of her class and my bother because he is a hard worker," Melnick says. Not only with family in mind, but her future as well. "The job I mostly see myself doing is something in more in cosmetology and if not there then in the medical field, more of a nurse wife."

"My advice for anyone that wants to get student of the month is if you need help, don't be afraid to get it because it'll help you in the future," Melnick said.
